ANITA has been working in the world of child development for over 20 years. In addition to working with toddlers, she works with teenagers to create ensemble generated performances, and elementary aged children in her arts and science Curiosity Club camp. She is a co-founder/director of NeuroKitchen Arts Collective, a nonprofit which engages youth in creative projects where they develop emotional and mental health skills to build extraordinary lives. She is a Certified Yoga Teacher and has experiences working with children diagnosed with behavioral and learning challenges. She enjoys practicing mindfulness and body awareness with the children and nurturing their playful curiosity.
ALEX earned his BA in Audio Arts and Acoustics with a minor in Early Childhood Education and graduated with honors from Columbia College Chicago in 2012. He adores working with children and believes it to be crucial to facilitate creativity at an early age. Alex is an advocate for education through play experiences and opportunities and brings his passion of audio and music to Playgroup. When not working for Playgroup, he’s typically working with his band. It’s not at all uncommon for your child to come home after a fun-filled day at HSPG humming songs by CCR and Queen (thanks to Mr. Alex’s fine taste in music!)
EMILLA comes to us with years of early childhood experience. For years she worked in full time childcare all over the city. She has studied empowering children to make positive choices in their communities and relationships. Some of her favorite things are helping children work through their feelings and showing respect and love to others. Outside of playgroup she is an artist and musician who brings her energy to playgroup with her ukulele, singing and art projects. Her warmth, enthusiasm, and passion for play make her a perfect fit for our playgroup. Emilla earned her BA from Western Michigan University. She graduated cum laude with a double major in stage management and theater performance- which was actually a wonderful segue into the world of early childhood. She is inspired by the honesty and creativity of young children.
